Scrotal Webbing (Turkey Neck)

Many men complain of excess skin at the testicular sac, or scrotum—an area that is attached under the shaft of the penis and in some instances, can extend all the way to the head of the penis (also known as the glans). In many cases this condition has been compared to the fleshy appearance of a turkey’s throat, hence the name, “turkey neck.” The condition is harmless, but aesthetically unpleasing to some men and can easily be corrected with surgery. The surgery is almost always performed for cosmetic reasons and in some cases it can make the penis appear normal and even longer in length. The incidence of this condition is not uncommon, often beginning at puberty, but can affect men at any age.

The surgery is performed as a simple excision, whereby the excess skin is surgically removed using a laser and plastic surgery principles. Surgery is under twilight sleep anesthesia and at times can be done with penile enlargement surgery.

Cost—
Cost varies, depending on the amount of work needed, but generally ranges from $1500- $2000 including the anesthesia and facility charge.

Recovery—
Pain is mild and controlled with pain meds, if needed.

Results—
The results are very good and patient can return to normal activity in a few days, on average. The procedure results in a normal appearance, thereby restoring/enhancing a person’s self-image and self-confidence.

Complications—
Infections, though rare, respond to antibiotics and excessive scarring does not occur because of the naturally occurring looseness of the scrotal tissue. Care is taken not to remove more tissue than is necessary.
