body Testicular Implants A surgical procedure to replace a missing or removed testicle or testes for either reconstructive or cosmetic reasons. Thousands of men each year lose their testicles due to a variety of medical conditions. Testicular implants have been developed to restore the normal appearance of the scrotum and hopefully restore quality of life. Testicular implants have been used for more than 50 years on children and adults for conditions such as atrophy, prostate cancer, trauma, testicular tumors, undescended testicles, torsion (twisted testicles), agenesis, cryptorchidism, edididymo-orchitis, intersex disorder, and sex reversals. The lack of a testicle in a male has been proved to be as psychologically traumatic as the absence of a breast or uterus in a female. Complications are rare and have no more risk than any other type of implant surgery. There is the chance, though minimal, that the body could have an adverse reaction to the implant, or that the implant may either rupture or leak (or both). Please check back soon for more information regarding testicular implants, or call our office at 703-845-7400.
